God Fell Like Lightning Under the Sycamore Tree

From the Preface:

The act of writing is equally closure and disclosure; absence and presence; revelation and obfuscation. The reader might obtain a glimpse into the author's mind and soul, but they never know in full; something always remains occluded. One might also say that the act of writing is an occult rite part of a broader ritual, that of anthropogenesis. Writers become something in the midst of the act or the rite; hopefully more of themselves, and possibly someone else entirely. The joy of this ritual is that there is no fixed telos.

I wrote these poems as a rite. Time will tell if it worked.
